“Ndizalwe Nge ngubo emhlophe”| I was born wrapped in a white blanket series produced in Antibes, France during the Undiscovered Art Residency
This work references the “Guqa thandaza vilapha” figure who kneels in a fetal like prayer position; this figure, among others by Wolf, bend and elongate themselves in search for a greater posture in life. Wolf’s technique of colour mixing, inspired by traditional African architecture, is a complex process of mixing natural materials such as soil and sand. The colour black is often figurative and other colours reference earthen artworks, such as minimalist cave art that records traces of the creative contemporary mind.
