UNDISCOVERED CANVAS X BASTIDE DU ROY IN ANTIBES, FRANCE

Selected works by emerging South African artists were exhibited at the Bastide du Roy Residence in Antibes, France.  This spectacular building was given to Henry IV in 1608 as a wedding present. The sculptor CESAR lived here for four years alongside the famous Parisian antique-dealer Jean GISMONDI, surrounded by their friends ARMAN, BEN, FOLON, FARHI, CASTELLI, LALANNE and other great lyrical names such as Nora AMSELLEM and Teresa BERGANZA.

FLIGHT LOGISTIC X MATHIAS CHIROMBO, LONDON

South African based artist Mathias Chirombo was chosen by Flight Logistic selection panel from 50 artists submitting artwork from around the world. His piece – “Mwari and the Angels” – met all the criteria laid down by Flight Logistic's open artists invitation. "The piece has stunning colour, depth, tone and texture. The visuals are backed up by a strong narrative particularly pertinent in 2020 – relatable across cultures, gender, age and race". Tracey Brown CEO

FLIGHT LOGISTIC X PHUMZILE BUTHELEZI, LONDON

"When South African artist Phumzile Buthelezi submitted a piece of artwork titled "Ngima nawe, sima nawe" to our recent vehicle wrap open call there was an immediate sense of "this is it"! For our 30th anniversary year and after almost 12 months in global lockdowns one way or another, we were looking for an artist with an uplifting message of positivity and joy". Tracey Brown CEO

UNDISCOVERED CANVAS X ARTFORM FACTORY, SOUTH AFRICA

We collaborated with to ArtForm Factory to conceptualize a unique, befitting signature framing style for Nthabiseng Boledi debut série with called "Dipuo le Badimo".
Each artpiece sits in a glass float, a new age technique of displaying art inbetween two sheets of glazed glass to give a floating effect. The portrait is lined with thin gold matte board finish to draw attention to the center piece. The gold leaf of the art as well as the matte board is complimented by a brush gold powder coated contemporary aluminum box frame.

UNDISCOVERED CANVAS X ARTFORM FACTORY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

This event has come through a collaboration of two different segments in the overall fine art industry value chain.
Nomaza is an art dealer who makes African contemporary art available to the global market and Monalisa a conservation framer which plays the part of ensuring that private collectors investment art pieces are handled and framed with integrity using only the best conservation materials of the industry.
This event brings together the sales part of the art industry as well as the processes after the sale which are conservation framing and hanging. Through this event we want to educate and reiterate the importance of art dealing and how the different segments play an integral role in the value chain of the fine arts industry. Although many work in silos we find that it is more beneficial to integrate to solidify knowledge and offer our end clients the best and easiest customer service.

MARTELL X UNDISCOVERED CANVAS

“Undiscovered Canvas has taken my understanding of African Art and Culture to a whole new level. Nomaza’s joy and passion for her mission is utterly contagious and her carefully curated artistic collections illustrate the same qualities in her artists.  Each artist in her portfolio has a unique style and medium yet all demonstrate incredible talent, a compelling narrative and stunning aesthetic – it’s the perfect combination! I feel strongly that art and culture are a vital pathway to understanding and empathy and I challenge anyone not to improve either of these characteristics within themselves after an encounter with Nomaza and her artists.

Tracey Brown MD Flight Logistics Group LONDON

Meeting Nomaza and working with Undiscovered Canvas has been both enlightening and delightful! She has an amazing amount of positive energy which she brings to every project. Despite her deep sense of professionalism and hard work, you still walk away, after an encounter with Undiscovered Canvas, with a feeling as though it was a very personal and uplifting experience, the way you do after visiting an old friend! Her love for African Talent is contagious and has left us yearning for more Undiscovered young talent from the continet!

Kgomotso Moloantoa CEO HM Pitje Foundation SOUTH AFRICA

Boundless energy, and a passion for Art and Africa which breaks down even the hardest walls, that is what Nomaza and her baby Undiscovered Canvas represents. It is a rare thing and always fascinating to meet an art curator who not only embodies the very essence of what he or she is "selling", but also cares deeply about the clients experience and pockets; as well as the growth of African artists, not just those she represents but all African Art in general. I am lucky to be amongst the very first clients of Undiscovered Canvas, and I remain a very happy client.
